I understand this thread is 3 years old, but it is relevant to my problem.

I have been trying to understand the problem I am having when a new user registers but has same permissions as registered user since I tested this with a test account. After further reading on the differences and why a new user gets assigned both Newly registered user and Registered user, I now understand that after X posts the user with automatically go into registered user with upgraded permission set.

My problem is that while I was trying to figure out all this group stuff, I have re-adjusted the default settings for Newly Registered User group roles and Registered User group roles, and possibly even added stuff I should not have. I even tried setting up custom groups and messed around with Auto Groups ext for a minute.. but now I think I get it, and well now it doesn't work the way it is supposed to by default.

I need help reverting the settings to their defaults for Newly registered users and Registered users. Here are screen caps for my Permissions > User Roles ..
Then, I have to do the same with restoring setting in the Permissions > Forum Roles ... I don't think the last one should be in there? I don't remember if I created that one or not.
